Has your program held any events or hosted any speakers over the past year which you would like to share with your colleagues? Are there any coming up in the fall or winter?
One of the benefits from the global pandemic is the widespread use of virtual telecommunication for grand rounds and educational conferences. We have been lucky to host a number of wonderful plastic surgeons as part of our grand rounds series. Dr. John Persing gave an enlightening talk on craniofacial surgery as part of the Plastic Surgery Foundation Visiting Professor. Dr. Ashit Patel provided our program with a welcome respite and focus on wellness during his visit. Dr. JP Hong enthralled our attendings and residents with his approach to supermicrosurgery and perforator free flap reconstruction. Dr. Tae Chong provided creative reconstructive options for perineal reconstruction. Dr. Andrew Jacono shared his vast experience using the extended deep plane face lift. Dr, Douglas Steinbrech provided insights on male aesthetic surgery. Dr. James Higgins demonstrated use of the MFT flap for scaphoid and Keinbock’s disease. Dr. Nolan Karp lectured about his vast experience in breast reconstruction. And last but not least, one of our own graduates, Dr. Ian Hoppe, provided insights into his approach to craniofacial surgery.

Our program is also very fortunate to have significant support from our community plastic surgeons who contribute significantly to the education of our residents. We were lucky to have many of them provide educational lectures.
